Jacob Struble made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, Nazarene Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Aidan Adams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Boston Busby was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Nazarene Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newman International Academy only posted an OBP of .154.
Meanwhile, Westlake Academy came up short against McKinney Christian Academy on April 1st and fell 7-2. The match marked the Blacksmiths' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Westlake Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angel Menon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Westlake Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Nazarene Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Westlake Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Nazarene Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Westlake Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Nazarene Christian Academy keep running through batters, or will the Blacksmiths buck the trend?
Nazarene Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 19-0 defeat they got from Westlake Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
