The Midland Christian Mustangs won the last time they faced the Southwest Christian School Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Midland Christian took their game at home with ease, bagging a 58-3 victory over Southwest Christian School. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Midland Christian.
It was another big night for Colton Newsom, who rushed for 157 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Brylee Perez, who gained 163 total yards and two touchdowns.
Midland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Southwest Christian School, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland Christian will challenge Grace Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwest Christian School, they will head out on the road to face off against Legacy Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Legacy Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
