The White Pine Bobcats won the last time they faced the Awaken Christian Lions, and things went their way on Saturday too. White Pine took down Awaken Christian 47-30. The win made it back-to-back wins for White Pine.
White Pine was led to victory by Mallory Thompson and Brenley Skadburg. Thompson scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Skadburg scored 23 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Skadburg has scored at least a third of White Pine's points.
Awaken Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Phoenix Sharp, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Sharp is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Rasmussen, who scored six points along with five steals.
White Pine is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Awaken Christian, they bumped their record down to 6-6 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. White Pine will take on Lincoln County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Lincoln County is ranked 45th, while White Pine is ranked 50th). As for Awaken Christian, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Founders Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Founders Classical Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
