The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Statesville Christian is ranked 547th, while Hickory Christian Academy is ranked 566th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 41-12, which was the final score in Statesville Christian's tilt against Liberty Preparatory Christian last Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Statesville Christian has scored all season.
Hickory Christian Academy fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 43-35 victory over Calvary Day School on Thursday.
Kiley Whitfield and Mia McGrath were among the main playmakers for Hickory Christian Academy as the former scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals and the latter dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. That's the first time this season that Whitfield scored 15 or more points.
Statesville Christian's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Hickory Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.
Statesville Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Hickory Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 42-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Statesville Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
