Sycamore is 1-9 against Fairfield since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Aviators will head out to face off against the Indians at 5:00 p.m.
Sycamore managed to slip by Hamilton the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Aviators came up short against the Big Blue on Wednesday, falling 11-1.

Sycamore got a good showing from Ty Thomas, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Thomas also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Aviators are 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Sycamore saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Poore, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. Carson Namaky also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Princeton 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted against the Vikings since April 8, 2022.
Fairfield also got a great performance from Brayden Benge as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Benge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Eric Ruther was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
Fairfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.
Fairfield's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sycamore, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Sycamore beat Fairfield 11-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aviators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
