Independence has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Stone Bridge Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stone Bridge took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Independence, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Independence strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 46-29. The win was just what Independence needed coming off of a 49-15 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Stone Bridge's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Briar Woods. While losing is never fun, Stone Bridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Falcons are ranked third).
Independence's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Stone Bridge, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4.
Independence took a serious blow against the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January, falling 56-22. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stone Bridge's Sravya Janapati, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Now that Independence knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
