The Sanford Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Kennebunk Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sanford's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Kennebunk's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sanford barely beat Windham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Eagles on Saturday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Scott Robitaille Jr was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Robitaille Jr was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other pitching news, Brayden Baron looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Sanford let Matthew Hebert and Drew Vessels run wild. Hebert went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Vessels got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Vessels is becoming a predictor of Sanford's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).
Sanford hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Kennebunk was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They came up short against Scarborough, falling 12-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Red Storm: they've now lost six in a row.
Sanford's record is now 7-5. As for Kennebunk, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sanford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kennebunk struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sanford skirted past Kennebunk 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
