The Chatham Central Bears will take on the Northwood Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chatham Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.7 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Chatham Central beat Jordan-Matthews 7-3.
The team relied heavily on Sallie Oldham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maeson Smith, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Northwood made easy work of Graham on Wednesday and carried off an 18-3 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 15 runs or more this season.
Northwood got a massive performance out of Allison Bryant, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Bryant has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Payseur, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Northwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Northwood and bumps their season record up to 3-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chatham Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chatham Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Chatham Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Northwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Does Chatham Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
