Football Recap: Homer Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Homer had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Haughton Buccaneers 36-34. For the Pelicans, this counts as revenge for the 48-46 win the Buccaneers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Jerzyion Levingston was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 162 receiving yards and one TD. Those 162 receiving yards gave him a new career-high.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Homer will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Minden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Haughton, they will welcome Byrd at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Buccaneers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
