Even though the Lynn Bears scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, the Marion County Red Raiders still came out on top. Marion County strolled past Lynn with points to spare, taking the game 75-59. Given Marion County's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Lynn is ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Joe Aldridge, who scored 29 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Tye Madison was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with three steals.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braylen Roberts, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Roberts hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Kelly, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Marion County is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. As for Lynn, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
Marion County will be playing in front of their home fans against Hackleburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hackleburg has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Lynn will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Belgreen at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Belgreen is coming into the contest with ten straight wins at home, meaning Lynn will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
