Mattoon had lost five games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-13 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Mt. Zion Braves 12-5. The Greenwave not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 14-2).
Hanna Griffin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mj Cowger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Micheala Starwalt was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
