El Camino Real and Birmingham are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Royals will head out to face off against the Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
El Camino Real came out on top against Taft on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Royals were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Toreadors. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Audrina Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Remy Glassman looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Delgado, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Senia Gutierrez, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
El Camino Real kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Birmingham, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Chavez on Monday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Annabella Venegas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
At the plate, Birmingham's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bella Gonzalez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Jasmine Martinez was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
The victory made it two in a row for El Camino Real and bumps their season record up to 11-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Birmingham, their record now sits at 5-8.
El Camino Real came up short against Birmingham in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
