On the hitting side, Washington Township let Destin Billings and Gavin Kukler run wild. Billings went 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Kukler went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Kukler a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Kouts owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They skirted past Morgan Township 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs & Fillies have posted since April 19th.
Billy Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Kouts hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgan Township struck out six times.
Washington Township's record now sits at 11-9-1. As for Kouts, their record is now 22-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Washington Township has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kouts struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Washington Township might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Kouts when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Senators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
