The Caruthers Blue Raiders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Santa Maria Saints at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Caruthers' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
Even though Fowler scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, Caruthers still came out on top. Caruthers skirted past Fowler 37-35.
It was another big night for Hunter Babb, who rushed for 251 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Babb is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last ten games he's played.
Meanwhile, Santa Maria can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Pioneer Valley as Santa Maria made off with a 32-7 win.
Santa Maria can attribute much of their success to Aldo Araiza, who rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown. Araiza is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josue Elena, who threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns.
Caruthers' victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Parlier and 2-8 Riverdale (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.5% over those games). As for Santa Maria, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Caruthers has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 449.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Santa Maria struggles in that department as they've been averaging 361.7 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
