The El Camino Eagles lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They were the victim of a rough 65-40 defeat at the hands of Christian Brothers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points El Camino has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why El Camino lost, one person who can't be blamed is Demetrious Perry. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Watts, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Stephan Hewitt was his usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds for Christian Brothers. Aaron Grijnsztein was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
El Camino has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Christian Brothers, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Camino will take on Sacramento at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sacramento has 11 straight wins, El Camino has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Christian Brothers, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Capital Christian at 7:00 p.m. Capital Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Christian Brothers likes a good challenge.
