Basketball Recap: St. Xavier Finds Home Court Redemption Against La Salle

There's no place like home for St. Xavier, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 41-30 victory over the La Salle Lancers on Monday. Given the Bombers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Lancers are ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Xavier had a senior duo take command as Donovan Waleskowski posted 13 points and Brendan Deeley put up 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deeley has scored all season. Brayden Reilly was another key player, putting up six points.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drae Arnold, who had ten points and four steals. Arnold is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady O?Connor, who posted seven points.

St. Xavier's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for La Salle, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Xavier will face off against Archbishop Moeller at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for La Salle, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Archbishop McNicholas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop McNicholas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.4 points per game this season.
