The Legacy Lightning had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 48-41 win over Boulder on Tuesday. The win was just what Legacy needed coming off of a 60-20 loss in their prior game.
Leading Legacy to victory were Meghan Allshouse and Olivia Mortensen. Allshouse scored 13 points along with eight assists and two steals, while Mortensen scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mortensen has scored at least a third of Legacy's points. Gianna Schmidt was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gaby Mccollester, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds. Mccollester has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi Oder, who scored ten points.
Boulder struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Legacy racked up 13 assists.
Legacy's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Boulder, they dropped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road.
Legacy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Prairie View is ranked 146th, while Legacy is ranked 127th). As for Boulder, Boulder and Poudre will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
