Oakes and the Loboes are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Oakes Tornadoes will head out on the road to face off against the LaMoure/Litchville-Marion Loboes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oakes waltzed into their match on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They skirted past Richland 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lily Thorpe was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Sitzler, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, LaMoure/Litchville-Marion blew past the Mustangs, posting a 57-30 victory at home.
Oakes pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for LaMoure/Litchville-Marion, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Oakes strolled past the Loboes in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 55-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oakes since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
