The home team had come away the winner the last five times Perham and Park Rapids had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Yellowjackets' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Yellowjackets have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Drew Ellingson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Griffin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Bradyn Anderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Perham pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Park Rapids, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Perham will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
