The Brennan Bears are on the road again on Friday and play against the Lake Travis Cavaliers at 3:00 p.m. on November 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Brennan walked away with it. They blew past the Bears 36-14. Given Brennan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is ranked 442nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brennan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Micai Thompson out in front who rushed for 71 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Love, who gained 119 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lake Travis had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Johnson 48-21 on the road. With Lake Travis ahead 41-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Nico Hamilton went supernova for Lake Travis, rushing for 184 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Chaston Ditta, who rushed for 19 yards and a touchdown.
Brennan's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Lake Travis, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Brennan strolled past Lake Travis in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 34-17. Will Brennan repeat their success, or does Lake Travis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
