Athlete of the Year
ATH - Ryan Robards, Senior, Elk GroveThe
Sacramento Bee Player of the Year
is the true definition of a do-it-all player. He rushed for 2,884 yards
and 43 touchdowns, but he was also a force on defense and special teams.
In a 42-7 win over Grant, Robards scored on three rushing TDs, a fumble return,
a pick-six and a punt return.
Offensive Player of the Year
RB - Justin Rice, Senior, Central Catholic (Modesto)The Valley Oak League MVP and Fresno State commit was dominant when he was on the field — his team was usually up too big for him to play in the second half. Rice had two 300-plus-yard rushing games in the postseason as the Raiders capped off a perfect 16-0 season.
Defensive Player of the Year
LB - Kekupaa Freehauf, Senior, Central Catholic (Modesto)The defense for the Raiders was essential to their state title run, and Freehauf was the rock in the middle. He totaled 155 tackles, 86 of which were solo.
Junior Player of the Year
ATH - Mason Hurst, Del Oro (Loomis)Hurst was a key piece in Del Oro's state title run. The junior was second in the section with nine interceptions. He also hauled in 57 catches for 865 yards and six touchdowns.
Sophomore Player of the Year
ATH - Kane Rodgers, SonoraThe
Black Hat Football Underclass Player of the Year led the state with 11 total interceptions. He also ran for 750 yards for the Division V Section Champions.

FIRST TEAM OFFENSEWR - Derrion Grim, Senior, McNair (Stockton)The Record's All-Area Player of the Year was No. 1 in the state with 34 touchdowns. He did that in just 10 total games.
WR - Tayvian Cunningham, Senior, Wood (Vacaville)Cunningham was a huge weapon for Wood, which averaged over 54 points a game this season. The senior averaged 122.9 receiving yards per game.
WR - Scott Henrichs, Senior, Granite BayIn a brutal league like the Sierra Foothill, Henrichs was still able to haul in 57 catches for 941 yards and eight touchdowns. He was also a perfect 38-38 on PATs.
TE - Wesley Preece, Senior, RocklinThe 6-foot-6 tight end was a key weapon in the run and passing game. He opened up holes for his backs, plus he caught 10 touchdowns for the Thunder.
OL - Jonah Williams, Senior, FolsomThe Alabama commit was key to Folsom's high-powered offense. Williams will be considered one of the section's most dominant offensive linemen.
OL - Jacob Capra, Senior, Placer (Auburn)The Oregon signee was a huge reason the Hillmen rushed for over 4,500 yards this season and went 12-1 overall.
OL - Orlando Umana,, Junior, Grant (Sacramento)The junior was named
First Team All-Metro by the Sacramento Bee. The 6-foot-4 lineman should be back for the Pacers next fall.
OL - Jaelen Lewis, Senior, AntelopeAntelope running backs knew where to run this season, and that was behind the 6-foot-6 Washington State commit. He was named the CVC Lineman of the Year.
QB - Jake Jeffrey, Senior, FolsomJeffrey threw for over 4,100 yards and 50 touchdowns. Jeffrey, who had 859 yards receiving, stepped in an excelled at QB for the Division I section champions.
QB - Ian Book, Senior, Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills)The Notre Dame Commit had another strong season for the Trojans. Book finishes his high school career with 7,632 yards passing and 78 TDs.
RB - Deshawn Collins, Senior, Grant (Sacramento)Collins averaged over 10 yards per carry this season. He finished with 2,298 yards on the ground and 28 touchdowns.
RB - Brad Aquino, Senior, OakdaleAquino was named the
Black Hat All-Stanislaus Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 37 touchdowns and 1,876 yards, both of which were school records.
RB - Evyn Holtz, Senior, RocklinHoltz had 34 total touchdowns this season including six games where he had three or more touchdowns. He was named
First Team All-Metro by the Sacramento Bee.
ATH - Michael Lawson, Senior, PattersonWith 31 total touchdowns, Lawson was dangerous for any defense to stop. Opposing offenses also made sure they threw to the opposite side of Lawson when he was in the secondary.
K - Bryce Wade, Junior, Central Catholic (Modesto)Wade attempted 100 PATs and connected on 94 of them. He also had 37 touchbacks on the season.
FIRST TEAM DEFENSEDL - Chase Hatada, Senior, RocklinHatada was named the Co-Defensive MVP in the SFL. He may not have had crazy stats, but that's because offenses knew to run the other way.
DL - Andrew Guevara, Senior, Sierra (Manteca)Guevara recorded 19.5 sacks for the Division IV-A state champions. He was named
First Team All-Area by the Stockton Record.
DL - Popo Aumavae, Junior, St. Mary's (Stockton)The junior was named Most Valuable Player of the TVL. Aumavae could have been named First Team on the offensive side of the ball as well.
DL - Lau Ta'amu, Senior, Elk GroveThe Elk Grove lineman racked up 9.5 tackles for loss this season with six sacks. He was named
First Team All-Metro by the Sacramento Bee.
LB - Roger Neal, Senior, FolsomNeal was in on 171 tackles this season. The senior two-way standout also had 860 all purpose yards.
LB - Colton Forster, Senior, NapaForster was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the MEL. He finished with 88 total tackles and four interceptions.
LB - David Moala, Senior, Grant (Sacramento)Moala, Co-Defensive Delta MVP, was also named an All-Metro tight end. The senior had 25 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
LB - Jake Bellecci, Junior, Elk GroveThe Co-Defensive Delta MVP was in on 89 tackles. The junior has the potential to be a Defensive Player of the Year next fall.
LB - Mustafa Noel-Johnson, Junior, TurlockThe Black hat All-Stanislaus Defensive Player of the Year had 8.5 sacks this season. He was also named the CCC Defensive Player of the Year.
DB - Davaeon Johnson, Senior, AntelopeJohnson is the back-to-back CVC Defensive Player of the Year with 87 tackles and six interceptions. He also caught eight TDs on offense.
DB - Trey Udoffia, Senior, Del Oro (Loomis)The Sacramento Bee Defensive Player of the Year did it all for state champion Del Oro. Udoffia had four interceptions, while also hauling in 37 passes for 729 yards and eight scores.
DB - Trajon Cotton, Junior, Inderkum (Sacramento)Cotton is another do-it-all player. He had 50 tackles and three interceptions on defense. He also played quarterback, where he threw for over 1,100 yards.
DB - Marcel Dancy, Senior, West (Tracy)Dancy had 94 total tackles and five interceptions. He also racked up 3,066 all purpose yards as a running back.
P - Ben Purcell, Senior, Del Campo (Fair Oaks)Purcell was most likely known for his play at quarterback. But the senior could punt the ball as well. He had a total of 21 punts inside the 20.
