Birchwood Christian and Cook Inlet Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Birchwood Christian Warriors will get right back to it and host the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Birchwood Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Non Varsity Opponent, taking the game 36-28. The win was just what Birchwood Christian needed coming off of a 50-15 loss in their prior matchup.
Birchwood Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Leia West, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds, and Elise Becker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Becker scored 15 or more points.
Meanwhile, Cook Inlet Academy came into Saturday's match having lost 16 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Bristol Bay by a score of 45-36 on Saturday. Cook Inlet Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Birchwood Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Cook Inlet Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-14.
Birchwood Christian beat Cook Inlet Academy 38-27 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will Birchwood Christian repeat their success, or does Cook Inlet Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
