There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. The action included a dizzyingly high 104-point combined score from Hamilton and Frenchtown.
Welcome
Butte Central Catholic was the better team in every quarter against Stevensville last week and consequently the better team overall. Butte Central Catholic put the hurt on Stevensville with a conclusive 54 - 14 victory. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Clay Fisher, who ran for 214 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. Thanks to its success, Butte Central Catholic cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
Columbia Falls got a 40 - 7 win over Whitefish last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Colten McPhee. McPhee earned five touchdowns and 340 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out McPhee as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Bigfork and Loyola-Sacred Heart, 7th and 6th in the power rankings, respectively. Bigfork was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as it fell 26 - 21 to Loyola-Sacred Heart. As a result, Bigfork fell three positions in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Laurel (11th in the power rankings) and Billings Central Catholic (1st). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Billings Central Catholic and Laurel both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Billings Central Catholic with eight and Laurel with four), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
