The Holy Family Tigers put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Longmont with a sharp 56-34 win. Holy Family has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.
Holy Family's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexcia Oaxaca led the charge by scoring nine points. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Altshuler, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Loss or not, Longmont got some senior leadership from Savannah Pohl and Stella Rulon. Pohl scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Rulon. scored seven points along with six rebounds. Pohl has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Holy Family pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. As for Longmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Family will face off against Mead at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mead's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. Longmont's road trip will continue as they head out to face Greeley West at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Greeley West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 on Wednesday.
