Softball Recap: Pearce Gets the Win

Pearce lost to Richardson back in April of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Pearce Mustangs came out on top against the Richardson Eagles by a score of 11-7. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Eagles on their field since March 31, 2017.

Taylor Kesler and Ashlyn Yarbrough did most of the damage at the plate: Kesler went 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI, while Yarbrough scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Kesler a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexa Falk, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Pearce's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-11-1. As for Richardson, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-12.

Pearce will have a chance to go back-to-back against Richardson: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
