2A Northwest recap October 8, 2013
Steven Mumford and Jesse Delucia provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Gaston. The connection was good for 88 yards, the longest such play in 2A Northwest this season.
Portland Christian added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Greyhounds, 47-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Royals.
Portland Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mumford threw for 131 and 2 touchdowns and Delucia had 101 yards receiving. On the ground Tucker Perry contributed 78 yards. David Guild helped Portland Christian's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 30 yards.
Mumford put up the best numbers through the air as Cal Szueber's team defeated Gaston. Mumford's favorite target this week was Delucia, who caught 3 passes for 101 yards.
Portland Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Royals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mumford has thrown for 954 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Nathan Mumford has 17 catches for 348 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Nestucca takes on the Royals. The Bobcats are in third place, while Portland Christian is in first place.
The Royals took down Lyn Lumley's team 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mumford during the win.
