The Caldwell Parish Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Winnfield Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Caldwell Parish is hoping to put an end to a two-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Caldwell Parish came up short against Delhi Charter and fell 55-46. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Caldwell Parish has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Winnfield pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Natchitoches Central by a score of 67-64. While losing is never fun, Winnfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Natchitoches Central is ranked eighth).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Decavian Duncan, who scored 20 points. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaylon Jackson, who scored ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
Caldwell Parish's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Winnfield, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Caldwell Parish came up short against Winnfield in their previous meeting back in February, falling 63-58. Can Caldwell Parish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
