Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Central challenged Crawford County on Tuesday. The Central Hawks took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crawford County Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (60), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Central lost, don't look at Sema J Copeland. Despite the final result, he posted 34 points. That's the most points Copeland has posted since back in December of 2024. Xaien Porter was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Crawford County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Walton, who went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points.

Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Crawford County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-15.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crawford County, they will face off against Schley County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Schley County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
