The Bayard Tigers suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Leyton, falling 50-23. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bayard in their matchups with Leyton: they've now lost four in a row.
Joe Hopkins was Bayard's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Connor Cochran held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Bayard has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Leyton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Bayard will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Minatare on January 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Minatare is ranked 255th, while Bayard is ranked 254th). Leyton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Potter-Dix on January 12th. Hopefully Potter-Dix focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday.
