Curtis extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 3-10. They came up short against the Emerald Ridge Jaguars, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 back in March.
Kylie Smith put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Hope Winer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Sophia Woodall also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for Emerald Ridge, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.2 runs.
On Emerald Ridge's side, Addison Hansen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Hansen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jayda Guadron was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Garrity, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coming up, Curtis will challenge Puyallup at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Emerald Ridge, they will face off against Graham-Kapowsin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
