Basketball Recap: Armijo Takes a Loss

Armijo lost against Gridley back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Armijo Royals lost 67-42 to the Gridley Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1215th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 253rd).

Despite the loss, Armijo still got an impressive performance from Isreal Legree, who posted 19 points. The game was Legree's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Dantes, who had ten points.

Gridley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luis Murillo, who put up 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Murillo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bikram Kullar, who earned 14 points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Armijo and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Gridley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Armijo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-39 loss against Vacaville Christian on the 28th. As for Gridley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-50 victory against Dixon on the 28th.
