The Kit Carson Wildcats waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Hi-Plains by a score of 51-40. That's another feather in the cap for Kit Carson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Kit Carson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Johnson, who scored 17 points. Lindsey Mayhan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Kit Carson pushed their record up to 6-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hi-Plains, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Kit Carson will head out on the road to take on Granada at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hi-Plains, Hi-Plains and Stratton will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Stratton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hi-Plains in Colorado (Stratton is ranked 30th, while Hi-Plains is ranked 114th).
