Baseball Recap: Akron Has No Trouble Against Limon

Akron lost to Limon back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Rams blew past the Badgers 11-4. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Anderson Filla made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jax Kusel, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Merek Charney, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Akron and bumps their season record up to 14-3. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 8.5 runs. As for Limon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.

Coming up, Akron will head out to face off against Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Limon, they will welcome Merino at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
