One thing working in NSU University's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact NSU University can now relate to. Their tough 91-67 defeat to the Spartans on Thursday might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Saint Andrew's entered their tilt with St. John Paul II Academy with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Saint Andrew's walked away with a 78-68 win over St. John Paul II Academy on Saturday. Given Saint Andrew's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while St. John Paul II Academy is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
NSU University's defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Saint Andrew's, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
NSU University came up short against Saint Andrew's when the teams last played back in January, falling 66-56. Can NSU University avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
