The Saugerties Sawyers lost against the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Saugerties took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. Saugerties has not had much luck with Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Saugerties' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mccoy Rothe, who scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jack Parisio, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Saugerties' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Saugerties won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Queensbury at 5:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Queensbury is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake will finish 2023 at home by hosting Averill Park at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Averill Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 513th, while Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake is ranked 150th).
