The Rothsay Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-46 to Richland. While losing is never fun, Rothsay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 399th in Minnesota, while Richland is ranked 92nd in North Dakota).
Richland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Mjoness led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Casyn Syvertsen, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Rothsay's defeat was their 15th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Richland, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rothsay on the road again on Monday and play against Battle Lake at 7:15 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Richland, they will face off against Oakes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
