The Salisbury Elk Lick Elks struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Ferndale Yellow Jackets had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Salisbury Elk Lick fell 56-43 to Ferndale. If Salisbury Elk Lick hoped to take revenge for the 54-35 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Several Elks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lance Jones, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Broadwater, who scored eight points.
Ferndale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Lushko led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Fenton, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Salisbury Elk Lick's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Ferndale, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salisbury Elk Lick's road trip will continue as they head out to face Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Averaging 72.9 so far this season, Turkeyfoot Valley Area's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Salisbury Elk Lick better be ready for a challenge. As for Ferndale, they will head out on the road to take on Blacklick Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
