There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Clearwater and Boca Ciega.
Welcome
After a comfortable win over Dixie Hollins in the match before, Clearwater might have felt a bit of anxiety in its most recent match. Clearwater won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Boca Ciega 27 - 26. Junior Rent Montie deserves a lot of the credit as he tossed the ball for 319 yards and two TDs. Thanks to its success, Clearwater cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Chamberlain got a 56 - 28 win over Blake last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Antony Guzman. Guzman ran for 187 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Guzman as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Clearwater Central Catholic and Jesuit, 4th and 6th in the power rankings, respectively. Clearwater Central Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Jesuit, winning 14 - 6. Clearwater Central Catholic gave the Jesuit offensive line some real trouble with four sacks (and will no doubt be looking to keep the pressure on Cardinal Mooney this Friday).
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Tampa Bay Tech (9th in the power rankings) and Plant City (12th). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (452 for Tampa Bay Tech and 405 for Plant City), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
