After flying high against the Union County Fightin' Tigers last Tuesday, the Williston Red Devils came back down to earth. Williston fell to Dunnellon 54-48. While losing is never fun, Williston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Dunnellon is ranked 78th).
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janiyah Span, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Delecia Dallas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Williston's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Dunnellon, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Williston will head out on the road to take on The Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully The Rock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Thursday. As for Dunnellon, they will be playing at home against Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
