Basketball Recap: Dylan Hroch Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Haltom

Lamar won the last time they faced Haltom and things went their way on Friday too. The Lamar Vikings came out on top against the Haltom Buffalos by a score of 56-43. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lamar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Hroch, who posted 18 points along with six boards and three steals. Those 18 points gave Hroch a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'Dren Washington, who earned 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Lamar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Lamar's win bumped their record up to 9-19. As for Haltom, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Lamar and Haltom could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Lamar (ranked 555th) will meet South Grand Prairie (ranked 63rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Haltom will square off against Grand Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 548 places (728 vs. 180).
