After flying high against the Aynor Blue Jackets last Tuesday, the Waccamaw Warriors came back down to earth. Waccamaw fell just short of Dillon by a score of 46-43. While losing is never fun, Waccamaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Dillon is ranked 97th).
Waccamaw lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Colin Behney, who scored 15 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Behney has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dutch Kerns, who scored seven points along with five steals and two blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dillon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zamaurious Robertson, who scored 13 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Samuel, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and three steals.
Waccamaw has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Dillon, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Loris the next time they take the court. Waccamaw will head out to face Loris at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Dillon will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
