Canton is a perfect 3-0 against Dexter since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cobras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dreadnaughts at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Canton came out on top against Milan on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Cobras were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Big Reds.
Meanwhile, Dexter got themselves on the board against Pioneer on Thursday, but Pioneer never followed suit. They blew past the Pioneers 10-0.
Jack Sayler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sayler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.
In other batting news, Matt Clayton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Cole Novara, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Dexter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Dexter pushed their record up to 26-8 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Canton, their victory bumped their record up to 18-14-1.
Canton took their win against Dexter in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 15-6 score. Will the Cobras repeat their success, or do the Dreadnaughts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
