There's no place like home for the Sotomayor WILDCATS, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over Harlan on Tuesday. For Sotomayor, this counts as revenge for the 39-32 loss the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Sotomayor found their leader in underclassman Jordan Pete, who scored 19 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jah'dae Bussey, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Ruhama Salyers and Emma Flores certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Salyers scored 16 points along with four steals, while Flores scored ten points. Salyers hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Sotomayor's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Harlan, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.
Sotomayor will head out on the road to face off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Taft has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29. As for Harlan, they will be playing at home against the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Holmes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
