Jaydon VonWagner was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Minarets: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 8-18 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Mitchell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Torin Wolf, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Legacy Christian Academy entered their tilt with Lee Vining on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Minarets, Legacy Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Jackson Balden. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Balden was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Legacy Christian Academy let Lucas Highfill and Lincoln Brown run wild. Highfill got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Brown went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Highfill has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Parker Kirstine, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Legacy Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in five consecutive games.
Minarets' win bumped their record up to 11-18. As for Legacy Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7-1.
