Newark Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past New Bremen 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Green Wave have posted since August 30th.
Newark Catholic had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 24-26, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-7.
Meanwhile, St. Henry beat Independence 3-1 on Thursday.
While St. Henry might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Independence scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18.
St. Henry's win came from a few key players Newark Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Morgan Baumer, who had 20 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Gast, who had seven digs and four aces.
Newark Catholic's win bumped their record up to 26-0. As for St. Henry, their victory bumped their record up to 23-5.
