It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tupelo had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Starkville Yellowjackets 28-10. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Wave as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tupelo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaeden Hill, who rushed for 173 yards while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also caught one score. Hill was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Tupelo also got a significant boost from Braylen Williams, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Starkville lost, don't look at Kingston Johnson. Despite the final result, he threw for 233 yards on 19 of 37 attempts, and also rushed for 40 yards.
Tupelo's record now sits at 11-1. As for Starkville, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-5.
Coming up, Tupelo will host Germantown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Wave will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. Starkville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
