The team relied heavily on Aubri Maldonado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Peyton Ramirez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Shallowater hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Idalou had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Dimmitt with a sharp 26-2 victory on Monday. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Addyson Linker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Linker was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Mylee Estrada was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Alicia Negrete, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Idalou's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-13. As for Shallowater, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.
Everything went Shallowater's way against Idalou in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Shallowater made off with a 16-2 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
