Tarboro is 0-5 against Perquimans since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Tarboro suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by SouthWest Edgecombe 55-15. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tarboro in their matchups with SouthWest Edgecombe: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Perquimans can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Martin County with a sharp 60-34 win. Given Perquimans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Martin County is ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tarboro's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Perquimans, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
Things could have been worse for Tarboro, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-47 loss to Perquimans in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Tarboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
