Paint Branch is 2-8 against the Bengals since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Paint Branch Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Blake Bengals at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, Paint Branch earned a 52-44 victory over the Blue Devils. That's two games straight that Paint Branch has won by exactly eight points.
Paint Branch can attribute much of their success to Jordan Horm, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Isaiah Lee, who scored 19 points. Horm is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. Ryan Tientcheu was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Blake stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Damascus as Blake made off with a 75-53 victory. Given Blake's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Hornets are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Paint Branch pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Blake, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Paint Branch came up short against the Bengals in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 57-48. Can Paint Branch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
