The Iota Bulldogs will take on the Alexandria Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Alexandria will be up against a hot Iota squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Iota put the hurt on Teurlings Catholic with a sharp 12-2 victory on Saturday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Haydyn Schexnayder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Addison Cormier was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Chloe Bordelon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Iota hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Alexandria made easy work of North Vermilion on Saturday and carried off a 9-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Like Iota, Alexandria also got a great game from a two-way player: Ella Melder. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Melder was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Amiyah Wilson and Sarah Grace Buckels did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Buckels went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mary Claire Brinkman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Alexandria now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Iota, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
